Let the games begin!! This is the funnest part of the shower. Herbabyshower.com has a complete set of printable games for you to enjoy at your shower. Here are some other ideas and activities tomake your baby shower a blast!!
Guess mommy’s tummy size: pass a roll of yarn or ribbon around and have your guests guess the approximate size of the mom-to-be’s tummy. After all guests are done, compare each guests guess with the correct yarn/ ribbon length taken before the game starts and the guest with the closest guess wins!
Baby food guessing game: buy a few small jars of baby food of various colors –some of them close in color to make the game a bit challenging. Take the labels off before the game making sure to keep track of which jar is which. Have your guests guess what type of food is in each jar and the guest who guesses the most correct, wins!
Baby scramble: Give each guest a sheet of paper listing about 10 – 15 scrambled words that relate to pregnancy, babies and/or labor. The guest who guesses all the correct answers first wins! Printable version is here.
Guess who?: have each guest bring in a baby picture of themselves. Have each guest try to guess who is who.
Guess what’s in the diaper?: Fill about 10 diapers with different types of smelly foods – ranging anywhere from peanut butter, coffee, salsa and garlic to different types of candy bars. Tie each diaper up, label them 1-10 and have each guest smell each diaper and guess what’s inside
Baby pins: At the start of the party, each guest is given a baby pin and attaches it to them. Each time someone mentions the word “baby” their pin is taken by the person that catches them saying it first. The guest with the most pins at the end of the party wins a prize.
My Water broke: All players race to the finish line with a water balloon between their legs. Whoever gets to the finish line without breaking their water (balloon) first is the winner.
Memory: Place several baby related items on a tray and let your guests take a look at it for about 15 seconds. Take the tray away and the guest that guesses the most items on the tray correct wins!
What’s in the diaper bag?: Put several baby related items in a diaper bag (ie: bib, onsie, baby socks, a diaper, diaper ointment, wipes, pacifier, etc). While blindfolded, have each guest feel inside the bag and guess what the item is. The guest with the most correct answers wins and the mommy-to-be can take home the diaper bag and its contents as a nice gift.
Cotton Balls: Pass around a jar of Vaseline and ask each guest to take as much as they think they need. (do not tell them the objective of the game yet) Once everyone has taken their share, tell them to rub it onto their noses. Then each guest is to try to get as many cotton balls out of a bowl and onto the floor in 60 seconds using their Vaseline covered nose. The guest with the most cotton balls on the floor wins!
Feeding the baby: Each guest is to pair up with someone. One person is the mother and the other the baby. Each team is given a baby bottle filled with a beverage of their choice. (make the nipple hole slightly bigger on each bottle) The “baby” sits on the “mothers” lap and is given the bottle to drink and the winner is the “baby” who finishes their bottle first.
Diaper the baby: Each participant is to try to diaper a doll or large teddy bear with a cloth diaper...blindfolded!! The participant who correctly diapers their baby first wins
Finding baby pins: Place about 12 baby pins of various sizes in a bowl of rice. In 60 seconds, each participant tries to pull out as many pins as they possibly can blindfolded. The participant that pulls out the most pins wins!
Guess how many: Fill up a baby bottle with any one type of small candy of your choice. (ex; Skittles, M&M’s, jelly beans, etc). Pass the bottle around. Each guest is to guess how many candies are in the bottle. The guest with the correct or close answer wins!
Mommy’s purse: (best if the attendants are mothers) Read a list of items to your guests. Each guest is to try to find as many of those items in their purse as they can. Assign points to each item (giving the unusual items the most points) (ex: baby wipes, baby picture, something that is pink or blue, a safety pin, any type of baby food, a baby toy, etc)
Advice book: Pass around a book and ask each guest to write some advice and tips for the mother-to-be (you can either make a homemade notebook or purchase a nice notebook and decorate yourself / have the guests help decorate it after everyone has written some advice down)
The Price is Right: Gather about 10 baby related items. Each guest is to guess the price of each item. The guest with the closest answer wins!
Mystery box: Fill a box with a few baby related items. Cut a hole in the top and have each guest, one at a time, stick their hand in and guess and wrote down as many items as they can in 60 seconds. The guest with the most correct guesses wins!
Baby’s name: Give each guest a sheet of paper with the names of the parents-to-be on the top. Each guest is to try to come up with as many names for the baby as possible using the letters of the parents-to-be’s name.
Place the pacifier in the baby’s mouth: (baby shower version of pin the tail on the donkey) Print out a cartoon/ drawing of a baby (try using clipart) Place this on the wall and have the blindfolded participant stick the pacifier in the baby’s mouth.
Building baby’s bank: Each guest wears a name tag that has a baby related item written on it. Everyone is go by the name written on the tag (ex: stroller, crib, basinet, diaper, rattle, etc) rather than their real names. Each time someone forgets and calls someone using their real name has put fifty cents in the baby’s piggy bank.
Baby Charades: Write down several baby-care activities on small pieces of paper, fold them up and place them in a container. Split your guests into two teams. One member from each team takes turns selecting an action from the container and acts out that baby related activity – no verbal communication allowed (ex: changing a diaper, breastfeeding, burping the baby, tickling the baby, etc) The team that guesses the most activities wins.
Baby Scavenger Hunt: Before all your guest arrive, hide about 10-15 baby items throughout the party room. The guest that finds the most items wins a prize.
Bobbing for pacifiers: Place several pacifiers in a bowl filled with water. Have your guests retrieve as many pacifiers as they can in 60 seconds without using their hands. The participant who can retrieve the most wins.
Baby hot potato: Set a timer and pass a baby doll around in a circle. Whoever has the baby when the timer goes off leaves the game and has to give the mother-to-be one piece of advice. The last participant to remain in the game wins.
Bottle bowling: Place 10 bottles in a triangle shape and with a tennis ball, have your guests bowl to see who can knock all the bottles down. The participant with the best score wins.
Pregnant belly: Have your guests compete to see who can fill up their shirts with the most balloons. (make sure that the balloons are a small size)
A to Z Baby Name Game: Starting with A, go around a circle and have each guest give a name for the baby that starts with the letter they are assigned with (First person - A, next person B, and so on) If they cannot give a name within a couple seconds they are out of the game. The last person that remains in the game wins.
Telephone: Have your guests sit in a circle. Have on guest sitting next to the mother-to-be start off and whisper a piece of baby related advice in the ear of the person next them. Have each guest continue whispering the piece of advice that they heard to the person next to them. Continue until it gets to the mother-to-be and have her announce what she heard. Your guests will have a laugh when they hear how twisted the original piece of advice got.
Storytime: Have a guest start off a story and designate someone to write down what everyone says (ex: “Once upon a time, there was a baby…” ) have each guest add on to the story until it is complete and save this for the mother-to-be’s scap book.
